There are a lot of different elements that make an engagement session - perfect. Along with a decade of experience, I've learned that every couple is different and each and every one has their own paticularity, however I have been blessed always with beautiful couple who shared with me the same love for beauty, all things fine, romance and fashion.

To cut down the conversation to the point, all these aspects brought me to define my engagement sessions: classy, romantic and timeless.

Here I want to share with you the 7 factors that you want to take in consideration for your e-session, in order to collaborate with your photographer to the end-result.

#1 FLOWERS

Awww flowers, they're magic. With flowers, everything immediately turns more romantic and feminine and pretty. Add flowers to your photoshoot: a bouquet, loose flowers, or decorate the environment creatively and you'll see the magic happening already.

#2 PROPS

When I say props, my imagination actually goes from old vintage cars to little pretty lanterns and everything in between (bikes, vintage motorcycles, balloons, etc).

I believe that adding a key element to your photoshoot is some how increasing the value of your photos and besides making them more interesting, it makes them more personal and unique.

Don't forget that our purpose is to tell a story and props are beautiful allies.

#3 PUPPIES

There is nothing to say. I'm sold. If I see a pet in any photograph - I melt. Bring your furry babies to the photoshoot (dogs, horses, cats, parrots, even monkeys, whichever your love is), they bring joy and light-up the entire session. I have worked with well trained animals and other more indisciplinated one, but each and every engagement session with a pet is a success!

#4 DRESS UP FOR THE OCCASION

I actually send a specific little handbook to my clients, in which I give them a lot of specific suggestions and tips on what to wear and where to buy for the best results, but here let me just say that your engagement session is a very special moment and you need to dress for the occasion. Each and every photographer have a different idea of what the ideal outfit is, we might have some points in common but ask him/her what is best. If you want to know more you can download my handbook and you can look at this inspiration board.

#5 ONE OR TWO OUTFIT

Your engagement session is not a fashion shoot. One or at the most two outfit, picked for the occasion properly is all you need. Don't spread your energies, concentrate them into the perfect outfit and you win.

#6 HAVE YOUR HAIR AND MAKE-UP DONE PROFESSIONALLY

First of all if you're looking for professional looking photos, having hair and make-up done by a professional artist will increase the chance that you're going to be happy with the result. Moreover, is a good excuse to do a trial for your hair and make-up of the wedding day.

My real motivation to suggest so, is to make you feel beautiful. I want you to feel confident, with mani-pedi done and your best look ever. I want you to realize how special your engagement session is and all of this will reflects in your photos.

#7 PICK THE RIGHT LOCATION

From the beach, to a wood, from a cityscape to the desert, no matter what you choose make sure it looks epic. Ask you photographer which are his/hers best spots, but my little secret for you (your welcome), is to chose a place where no matter what it looks like you're the only two people on earth, and avoid weekends (unless you really can't really work it out differently), because is when you have higher chances to see people on the beach or hiking, etc.

Sometimes couple ask if they can choose two locations and I don't reccommend it very much for two specific reasons: first of all, when you are working with your photographer it always takes a few minutes to warm-up and (even if you are used to be in front of the camera), changing location can be distracting. Sooo because I am all about the experience, I don't want you to look for your photoshoot like a job, I want you to relax and have fun, enjoy the moment and lose in each other eyes. Second, the best time to take your photos is at sunset (the famous golden hour), and literally those 30 minutes before the sun leaves the horizon are the absolute bomb. We can't ask the sun to wait for us to change location, unless obviously you take your photos in two different days, but that is also distracting and kind of ruins the moment.
